Fenwick Eagle Downrigger Rod
My salmon rods were getting pretty “iffy”. Most were 12 to 15 years old. They were still serviceable but had seen better days. I was at Bob Boats and Motors and noticed a rod rack loaded with Fenwick Eagle rods. They were just what I was looking for. They were 10 ½ footers and medium heavy moderate flex. They were recommended for 1- to 6-ounce lures and 15- to 30-pound test line. Perfect! The price was just $49.95, too, which made it even easier to grab a couple. These rods not only work great on downriggers, but I have also used them with sliding lead balls for kings. They are soft enough for me to get a good “read” on the rod’s action, and tough enough to take use with downriggers. There is just a small supply of these rods in stock, so better get to Bob Feil Boats and Motors in East Wenatchee if you want one or two.
