I received samples of the Butterfly Blade last year from Dutch Fork Custom Lures. They wanted some photos of different fish taken on this new design for a catalogue that would be out in late 2017. These blades are made from the same high impact polymers that Dutch Fork uses to make their “Ghost” spinner blades that are in high demand from walleye anglers. This new design is like nothing else I have ever seen, and I was able to get photos of walleye, kokanee and cutthroat caught on them. Last time I talked to Keith Eshbaugh, owner of Dutch Fork Custom Lures, and he said that well over a dozen species of fish had been caught on Butterfly blades. They come in a wide variety of colors and two sizes. The one at the top of the photo is tied to fish with a Slow Death Hook, and is selling out at Northland Fishing Tackle. Through Northland Fishing Tackle anglers can order Butterfly blades pre-tied for fishing for walleye, and kokanee. They will start showing up at tackle retailers in the coming year, but for now you can order them by going to
www.northlandfishingtackle.com. Part of the appeal of the blades is that the colors show through on both sides of the blades, unlike most that are available on the market today. I would highly recommend that you get some of these new blades and give them a try. I have had great success with them and I am sure you will, too. You can get the blades through
www.dutchforkcustomlures.com but you will have to tie your own set ups.
