Max Rutger of Valley Marine in Yakima finally got up here to fish with me at Wells Dam. Here he shows off one of the results of our trip. I think he'll be back.

My daughter Whitney (right) enjoyed fishing on Rufus Woods with my buddy Shane Magnuson, of Upper Columbia Guide Services.

Two anglers fish a point near a fire at Rufus Woods Reservoir. Soon the landscape will be white and anglers will be much closer to their fires, but fishing will be hot in Jan. and Feb.

Mike Allemande shows off his first steelhead of the season. He caught one on his first cast, but had to release it. This one was a keeper!

Ray Aimes caught two fish with me below Wells Dam recently. One was released, but he was able to keep this one. Two fish in less than an hour. Not bad.

Eric Granstrom broke in a new rod and reel in style, fishing with me below Wells Dam. He hooked and landed this beauty on his brand new set up.

An angler released a wild fish that he hooked while fishing above Wells Dam recently. Things have changed for shore anglers here, but it's still a great spot.

Success! I was very satisfying to hook and land a bone fish. They are exceptionally spooky, and casts have to be dead one to hope to hook one of these powerful speedsters.

Here's my friend Danno with a nice trigger fish taken while fishing at the edge of the Barrier Reef. We caught an amazing variety of fish from a very small boat.

This what I would look for on the flat--at tailing bone that can be seen a long way off. Bone fish are almost impossible to see, unless the light is just right.
